RunesRunes are letters in a family of ancient alphabets known as runic alphabets. Thousands of examples of runic inscriptions can be found in stones, coins, and artwork, and many Scandinavian countries also boast extensive collections of runic manuscripts. Runes are also used as a tool for divination, since these individuals believe that runes have mysterious powers. Futhark Runes are an ancient Germanic alphabet, used for writing, divination and magick. They were used throughout northern Europe, Scandinavia, the British Isles, and Iceland from about 100 B.C.E. to 1600 C.E. Runic divination or "rune casting" is not "fortunetelling" in the sense that one actually sees the future. Instead, runes give a means of analyzing the path that is available and a likely outcome. Witches runes use picture symbology (representing the 8 Sabbats, the 4 elements and the joining of feminine and masculine) in order to determine answers to both simple and complex questions and to form guidance in readings. |
